Affordable Colour Printing On
Demand.
Short run colour has added an exciting
new dimension to the world of print. New technology in electronic imaging
has accelerated and simplified the printing process, making it possible to
produce printed matter directly from a computer generated image. At the
same time, the desktop publishing revolution has led to a surge in demand
for fast colour printing.

The
Desktop Publishing Revolution
Today,
most companies have image processing equipment capable of creating entire
documents in digital form. What they do not have is the means to output
these digital documents instantly and affordable in colour and in
quantity. Yet their need continues to grow and market experts all predict
a rapid growth in small, short runs of 50-500 colour documents for
immediate use.
Until recently, full colour
finished documents were only produced in long runs because the cost of
prepress was too high. Now Canon has achieved a breakthrough in short run
colour printing. It is a digital solution that turns the possibility of
affordable print on demand into reality. A solution called the CLC1000.
High
Performance for Short Run Print
At
31 prints per minute (or 1860 prints per hour), the CLC1000 offers high
performance for low print volumes that are too time consuming or too
expensive to be produced by traditional presses. Because data for printing
is digital, it requires no make ready time. Better still, print runs can
match the exact numbers required, avoiding bulk wastage of printed matter.
In fact, everything about the CLC1000 is designed to give the user more
productive ways to print. Workflow is easy to manage at the Command
Station where jobs can be queued, held for subsequent printing or recalled
from memory for instant reprint without having to be re-ripped.
Superior
Economy and Productivity
Once
a job is sent to print, fast throughput is guaranteed by the flat paper
path made possible by Canon's revolutionary 4 drum printing process and a
5250 A4 sheet paper capacity. Ripped documents can be previewed for
checking before printing and when a proof is required, it is just a simple
case of running out a single test print in seconds. The built-in software
also eliminates interruptions by identifying PostScript errors before
printing.
The CLC1000 also offers the
economy and efficiency of double siding. Once jobs are printed, the system
software ensures that they are delivered ready for finishing. Electronic
Collation and Reverse Order Printing functions enable the pages of every
document to be printed in the desired order and style.
Simply
the Best for Short Run Colour
Built
with Canon's matchless expertise for reliability and operational
simplicity, the CLC1000 is easy to use and compatible with Macintosh, PC
and Unix platforms, with automatic switching between popular network
protocols. |
